Co-designing justice-centric indicators and governance principles to intensify urban agriculture sustainably and equitably
Objectives
Our goal is to comparatively evaluate the equity and justice implications of different pathways toward sustainable city-region food systems. Specifically, we intend to:

Knowledge Production Processes
Collaboratively co-define equity and justice indicators for UAI with community and governance stakeholders in five dimensions: land access, labor equity, food security, environmental implications, and cultural sustainability

Decision-making Processes
Evaluate the construction of responsibility for action within governance networks and the pathways for action to produce long-term, systemic policy transformation in order to institutionalize equity as a valued priority

Impact

Our results will benefit stakeholders and policymakers by providing practical tools for planning and monitoring efforts to enhance urban agricultural resilience, dignity of labor and livelihoods, and sustain diverse cultural foodways.
The general public will benefit through the wide dissemination of findings, and outputs and by promoting generalizable tools to support just transitions toward systems of sustainable production and consumption of food.
